Welcome to the first ever Spiritwish blog on Infinity Atmosphere. Today we’re going to be answering a popular question. Do you need a healer in your team composition?
TLDR; NO
Cleric F and Cleric M really aren’t required in order to progress in the game. Although there are some pros and cons for having one or not. I’ll list them below.
Pros
- Survivability
- Save money on health potions
- Better performance in PvP
- Buffs & Revive
Cons
- More mana potion usage
- Require strong weapon and high skill levels to heal decent amounts
- One less DPS slot in your comp (Lower DMG)
Let’s talk about the pros first. So the best part about having a Cleric is not having to worry about health potions and dying as much. You save gold, that’s always good. Additionally, I personally found that ever since I added my Cleric to my team composition I’ve been winning in PvP more often.
At the very moment since the game is quite new, PvP compositions aren’t refined yet. There are currently only burst teams and random PvE teams floating around. Only the higher ranking players have burst teams that consist of characters such as Mercenary and Fire Mage. Since the rest of the players won’t one shot your team, a Cleric will help you out-survive most battles if enemies don’t have a Cleric as well.
Clerics also provide nice buffs such as Divine Harmony (ACC/EVD) and Blessing (ATK) as well as a revive. These combined with the excellent passive Teachings of Virok (DMG) make the Cleric a great addition to the team.
Now let’s talk about the cons…
With a Cleric, you’ll be eating through mana potions to keep your team alive. This is a huge gold sink but at the same time you save money on health potions. So really in terms of gold it’s almost equal to not having a Cleric. The money you would be spending on health potions goes to mana potions.
When you initially get a Cleric, it won’t be too useful until you get a stronger weapon or level up skills. Due to the nature of the heals being based on weapon attack and scaling heavily based on skill level, you won’t see much return on investment until mid to late game. This is a deterrent as you will have essentially a wasted slot until later on whereas a DPS or Tank character can provide instant value.
What if I don’t use a Cleric?
If you don’t use a Cleric I can see three major downsides.
- PvP difficulties
- No utility (Revive / Buffs)
- PvE difficulties late game
In PvP, if your team composition doesn’t 1 shot the enemy right out of the gate then you will likely die if they have a Cleric or Defender. Additionally, you won’t have any buffs for your team. Divine Harmony, Blessing and Revive are all great for PvE and provide a lot of mileage when leveling. Also, If I didn’t have a Cleric at late game, I’m not sure how I would survive. Health potions are on almost a minute cooldown and if your team is relying on them then they better be killing mobs fast enough to survive.
My recommendation is to have at least one support character
With the above being said, I do recommend that you at least take one support character. The Time Mage has a shield that mitigates damage and can increase your movement speed and attack speed to kill mobs faster. The Paladin has a heal and attack damage buff that can help your team survive and kill faster as well.
I used to run Paladin, Arbalist, Dual Wielder but found it troubling to survive at times. Replacing my Arbalist with a Cleric was a choice I didn’t regret. I’ll post pictures of my Cleric M for reference below for you to see.
To close I would like to thank you for reading this blog, if you would like me to cover any other topics pertaining to Spirtiwish please leave a comment below.
Cleric F / M is not required but having at least one support character will help immensely.
Clerics and other support characters help you survive easier and save you money on health potions. They also provide utility in the form of buffs that can greatly help the whole team. If you don’t have a Cleric or support character you’ll likely find troubles in staying alive or use a lot of gold on potions daily. For PvE I recommend a Cleric or support class, but for PvP I recommend a burst composition such as Mercenary, Fire Mage and Lightning Mage.
